Omega-J v0.0001
------------------------------------------------------------------
This is the beginning of an effort to provide Japanese language
support for the Omega typesetting system. It is in a *very early*
stage of development.

The material provided here will enable you, if all goes well, to
process a JIS7 encoded TeX file containing kanji and output a DVI file
with the correct kanji in the correct order. It should also work for
JIS8 or ISO-2022-JP as long as there are no half-width katakana.
Proper linebreaks, kana characters, cyrillic, greek, and symbols are
all missing, and ASCII rendering is buggy. In other words, if you need
to get some work done, don't even think about using Omega-J in its
current state.

On the other hand, if you're interested in Omega and would like to
help make it usable for Japanese, welcome! To tell you the truth, I
could use some help with this project. I have already put more time
into it than I could afford, and don't anticipate being able to do
very much in the foreseeable future.

If anyone is interested in helping to develop this package, I would be
willing to commit to finishing the current injis.otp and providing
additional character translations for EUC and Shift-JIS encodings.

Read TODO for more info on what needs to be done, and contact me at
<mgushee@havenrock.com> if you'd like to get involved.
