This is a set of patches to allow testing of both AX.25, NET/ROM and ROSE as
loadable modules, along with all of the AX.25 hardware drivers, including
mkiss. When running a "make config" remember to say Yes to "Radio Network
Interfaces" to get the options to build the various AX.25 drivers,
remembering that KISS is now an optional driver. There is now a new protocol
to play with too, ROSE. Its in the early stages of development but it should
do something useful, anybody intending to use it should drop me a mail so we
can discuss any problems, configuration etc.

You must use the AX.25 Utilities associated with Linux 2.1.x with this
patch. At the time of writing this is ax25-utils-2.1.42a.tar.gz.

The patch ax25-2.0.34-2.1.47-1.diff is a patch that should be applied to the
Linux source tree in exactly the same way as a normal patch from Linus. This
patch is relative to a clean Linux 2.0.31 source tree.

A big change with these patches is the removal of the need to have SLIP in
your kernel (unless of course you need SLIP) for AX.25 to work. About the
only difference you will notice is that AX.25 devices are no longer
sl0...slN but are now ax0...axN. So if you are doing any IP routing remember
the change.

Please let me, and the Linux Hams list know of how you get on.

Terry
